I'm an MFA student at the University of California - Irvine. I write fiction and watch a lot of television. You can follow me on Twitter. My tweet-dentity is HermioneBadger. This blog likes to analyze television in a very literary, craft-driven way. I will write about older shows and also try to keep things current with occasional reviews and commentary. Basically, I'm "reading" TV (or watching closely) and blogging about it from my point of view as a fiction writer. I love feedback. On anything. Enjoy!
(If you see a picture on here that is your's and you would like me to take it down, just ask. None of the pictures used on this blog are mine, nor do I claim that they are!)
"X-Files" Season 3: About half-way through, Scully starts to display curiously jealous behavior, and Mulder is randomly presented with a number of hotties. Whether they be entomologists or small town detectives, he's looking at them like he wants to take a bite, and Scully's all "Screw you, Mulder, and your maleness!" While I'm not sure about the characterization of Scully as a catty, jealous woman, I am excited to watch them fall in love. They do fall in love, don't they? I also love it when, in that disgusting, hilarious cockroach episode, Scully questions as to why he's always the one who gets to drive. Great stuff. Love Scully.
"Lost" Season 1: Oh man. I can't even let you know. Those early episodes of "Lost"--It's a thing of beauty. I have some analysis in the works about the women in "Lost"--Kate, Claire, Juliet especially. The presentation of Kate as a girlish,
tomboywoman who is constantly filthy, who is, essentially sexy, but who is rarely sexualized, is very interesting to me.
